Lord Balarama at ISKCON NAIROBI

Lord Balarama is the elder brother of Lord Krishna and the first expansion of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He is the symbol of strength, not just physical, but spiritual. Without the mercy of Lord Balarama, one cannot achieve the service of Krishna.

At ISKCON Nairobi, Balarama Jayanti is celebrated with immense joy. As the "Adi-Guru" or the original spiritual master, He provides the foundation for our spiritual lives. The festival features a grand Abhisheka where the Lord is bathed in auspicious items, followed by an ecstatic Varuni offering and a maha-feast.

Lord Balarama carries a plow (Halayudha) to cultivate our hearts, removing the weeds of material desires to make the soil fertile for the seed of devotion to grow. Praying to Him on His appearance day grants the inner fortitude needed to remain steady on the path of Bhakti.
